About the film

Which the concept of " black cinema"? How we will act in the face of new technological dimensions? How does the experience of American and British directors like Spike Lee, Julie Dash, Isaac Julien, Charles Burnet among others, and African (Ousmane Sembène, Idrissa Ouedraogo) can collaborate in Brazil? How to take advantage before the market segmentation? These are some of the issues that will challenge us. I believe it is this vision and through which we intend to present this brief and unprecedented chapter of diverse Brazilian cinematography. Establishing the Brazilian black as the protagonist of filmmaking.

Brazil, November 1999.

Synopsis

Three black teenagers walk around the city. Two boys and a girl.
What are they thinking about? Without any destination, “distracted”, they wander around the streets and avenues. The boys are laughing about their own racist jokes while the girl quietly watches them. Three different ways of understanding the world, connected by a game of life or death. Who would dare to cross the street, to violate the limits, to cross over the set calmness? There are people who would risk everything (or their nothingness) in search for meaning.
Distracted to death is a film about the strength that comes with fragility. Of the love that is born based on daily tragedy.
