Érika Bauer is a filmmaker from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. She is graduated in Film Studies by the University of Television and Film Munich and is currently a professor at UNB (University of Brasilia), in the department of cinema and communication. 

Filmography as director (short films): Com a Liberdade na Terra (1987); Miss Amnésia (1989); Julchen (1990); Bela Estranha (1993); Maxacali, o Povo do Canto (1994); Glauber Rocha, quando o cinema virou samba (1995); Guignard, o Observador (1995); Salão do Encontro (1996); A Última Diva (1996) e Bom Dia, Senhoras (1998).

Bauer debuted as a feature director with Dom Hélder Câmara – O Santo Rebelde, in which she follows the path of a religious man who has changed brazilian history. The film received many awards in Brazil: Prêmio Margarida de Prata for Best Documentary - CNBB, Best Script and Editing at Cine Ceará, Best Picture at Festival de Varginha, Best Research at RECINE – Festival Internacional de Cinema de Arquivo do Rio de Janeiro.
